St. Cecilia School is dedicated to the Church mission of proclaiming the word of Jesus Christ and to the development of each child spiritually, intellectually, socially, and physically.
"The educational mission of the Church is an integrated ministry embracing three interlocking dimensions: message, community, and service. Catholic schools afford the fullest and best opportunity to realize this threefold purpose of education among children and young people." (NCCB, to Teach as Jesus Did, 101)
In light of this Church document, St. Cecilia School is committed to the education of children in partnership with parents who recognize that, for people of faith, the wisdom and culture transmitted by a school are enriched and put into perspective by the gospel message of Jesus.
St. Cecilia School is the Catholic grade school of St. Cecilia Parish in Cincinnati, Ohio, located in the neighborhood of Oakley. The school opened in 1913 and since then, we have been partnering with parents and students to provide an education in a nurturing and caring environment that is academically strong and based on Catholic teachings.
Our small class sizes ensure your child will receive the attention needed to excel. Meeting children where they are academically, we work with them to help them reach their maximum potential. With a wide variety of ethnicities represented in the students at our school, kids who come to St. Cecilia learn early on to value differences in one another.
We embrace technology, preparing our students for the 21st century by using computers as a supplement to traditional methods of study. Our balanced curriculum includes art, music, and Spanish, with religion class held daily beginning in kindergarten. We also offer numerous extracurricular activities, from athletics to the school newspaper to a very active Service Club.
At St. Cecilia School, we value the parent-student-teacher relationship, and we look forward to working with you in helping your child to achieve all that God intended.
St. Cecilia students are guided by the St. Cecilia 10 Commandments, which were created with students during the 2009-10 school year and are based on the Bible's 10 Commandments.
The St. Cecilia 10 Commandments encourage a loving and Christian attitude and call for appropriate behavior in school. Our discipline policy is connected to these 10 Commandments, and we have found them to be an effective tool for teaching students that each child is valued and unique, as well as responsible for their behavior.
Our 10 Commandments are:
1. Take a Christian approach in all you do
2. Be kind and generous to others
3. Always be honest
4. Seek help if you are being bullied
5. Be responsible
6. Respect all people
7. Take pride in yourself
8. Always be polite and use good manners
9. Be safe at all times
10. Be a good sport
