HOW TO REGISTER FOR VIRTUS CLASSES

In order to keep our children safe, all volunteers are required to participate in the Virtus training. Even if a volunteer holds a professional license or certification in New York State, that volunteer is still required to participate in the Virtus training.

IT IS THE REQUIREMENT OF THE DIOCESE OF BROOKLYN AND QUEENS that any adult who is in direct contact with any child must participate in the Virtus training.

Upon completion of the training, after a background check, and after three weeks, that person’s name appears on the Virtus site for St. Joan of Arc School. Parents who register and have not yet completed that training also appear on the site under St. Joan of Arc School as PENDING. Mr. Fruner only has access to the St. Joan of Arc School Virtus trained volunteers. If you attended this training for the parish, for any other parish, for any other school or institution that works with children in the Diocese of Brooklyn and Queens, you need to get your training connected to St. Joan of Arc School. If this is too difficult a task, please send a copy of your Virtus certificate to Mr. Corso and he will do this for you or you can call the Safe Environment Office for the Diocese of Brooklyn and Queens at 718-965-7300 Extension 2105. If you wish to email that office, please email Ms. Mary Ellen Quiin, Director at: mquinn@diobrook.org.

YOU DO NOT HAVE BE TRAINED EVERY YEAR. If you participated in Virtus training you do not have to be trained again. Mr. Corso has the list of names of parents who were trained and cleared through the Diocesan background check.

PARENT USER NAME AND PASSWORDS FOR OPTION C

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Option C no longer permits us to see every user’s name with their password.  Printing out a letter for those who have not yet signed on is additionally time consuming because we can’t sort those letters by homeroom or grade.

If you have not signed on as a parent to Option C, please send Mr. Fruner an email where he can email you your USER NAME and TEMPORARY PASSWORD.

Email Mr. Corso at PrincipalSJA11372@gmail.com

Once you get your User Name and temporary password, you access Option C in the following manner:

1. Go to www.optionc.com. On the top right corner of the page, click Log In.
If you are on a tablet or smart phone, you will see a round icon instead of Log In.  Click it to open the menu and select Log In.

2. On the page that comes up, enter our school code, 970, and when St. Joan of Arc Catholic School appears, select it.

3. Please sign in with the User Name and temporary password that was given to you.

4. You can change your password to something you will remember and that you use frequently.  Do not leave your temporary password as your password.

5. Once you log in, please click the BLUE USER ICON in the top right hand corner and select CHANGE PASSWORD.

6. Do not give out your information to others.  Anyone who knows your username and password can access and change your information.  Please do not share your parent login with your child due to the sensitive information available only to parents.

ONLINE HOMEWORK REQUESTS to be made only on our website, www.sjaschoolny.org

September 7, 2016

Dear Parents, Guardians, and Students,

Homework requests are only taken on our website Home Request form.  We are no longer taking emailed requests, Option C private message requests, faxed requests, and called in requests.

Homework and books will be available AFTER dismissal of your child.  Homework and books are not available before dismissal. Please let us know if you need books or just the assignments.

AFTER 9:30a.m. we will not be logging on to our website to print those forms.  We do not have the time during a school day to do so.  In order to get homework and books, please make sure you request them BEFORE 9:30a.m. each day.

Homework Requests Directions

Go to www.sjaschoolny.org   (we no longer maintain or update our former website that ends in ".com" )

Go to STUDENTS.

Under STUDENTS, you will see Homework Requests.  The office staff will print the form and make sure the homeroom teacher has the form.

Snow and rain boots can not be worn inside
the school building.
Snow and rain boots make it difficult and dangerous for students and staff
to safely walk through the halls, classrooms, and on the stairs.

THE POLICY OF THE SCHOOL IS:
Students wear snow or rain boots to school
and home from school.
When students arrive in their homeroom,
students change into their sneaks
when wearing the gym uniform.
When wearing our Winter uniform,
school shoes must be worn.

During morning homeroom and morning unpacking,
the student takes off his or her snow or rain boots
and puts on his or her sneakers
when wearing the gym uniform.

When wearing the Winter uniform,
school shoes are then put on
during morning homeroom and morning unpacking.

At the end of the day,
students change back into their snow or rain boots packing away their sneakers or school shoes.

ADMITTANCE INTO SCHOOL BUILDING

DURING MORNING ARRIVAL

For security reasons, we will do not admit any adult, parent, or visitor into the school from 7:45a.m. to 8:15a.m.

If you want to pay tuition or see any school office staff, you can do so between 7:30a.m. to 7:45a.m. or after 8:15a.m.

IF YOU HAVE AN APPOINTMENT WITH A TEACHER, then you need to arrive BEFORE 7:45a.m.

No doors will open between 7:45a.m. to 8:15a.m.

When you ring the bell, you will now be asked why you are coming in to the school and will be asked the name of your child.

This is part of our efforts to ensure the children are safe in the school building.

STUDENTS WHO FORGET A BOOK OR BOOKS IN THE CLASSROOM  AFTER DISMISSAL

are not permitted to re-enter the classroom for those books.
The office staff nor any teacher or administrator will open the classroom.
